B.Sc. (Psychology), MHK (Intervention and Consultation: Performance and Sport) Having danced for over 30 years – 10 of which were spent training and performing professionally as a ‘triple-threat’ dancer, actor, singer in Toronto and New York City – Ayanna has taught hundreds of performers to get the most out of their performance. She incorporates her unique experience as a successful performing artist with her performance psychology education to coach other performing artists, as well as athletes, to drastically elevate their performance. Her unique experience informs her coaching as she has had the privilege of performing as an ensemble member and as a “swing” performer in both Disney’s the Lion King and at the Stratford Shakespearean Festival, North America's largest classical repertory theatre. (Ayanna is extremely passionate about performance: whether on stage herself or when coaching her athletes and performing artists to realize their peak performance. She is highly committed to providing the tools that will help her clients to reach their fullest potential. Ayanna now combines NET (Neuro Emotional Technique) with her work as a Mental Performance Coach to help her clients go even deeper, to release internal or subconscious blocks. In this way, they may unveil potential that they did not know already existed so that they may be freed to explore where it might lead! )

What she shares on this episode

The things that we fear the most as artists are rejection and failure. Rejection of our work, who we are and what we stand for. But if you just muster that little ounce of courage and face your fears you realise that it’s not that scary. All it takes is for you take one step at a time. Stepping out of our comfort zones can be extremely threatening but the outcome is glorious. We learn, we grow and truly evolve in the process. On this episode Ayanna talks about her transition from being a performing artist to a mental performance coach. The techniques and methods she employs in helping her clients and highlights some of her challenges and gratifying moments.
